The Minister of Youth and Sports discusses with the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations a number of youth issues

Today, Wednesday, His Excellency the Minister of Youth and Sports, Nayef Saleh Al-Bakri, discussed with the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Office for Arab States at the United Nations Development Program, Dr. Khaleda Bouzar, discussed many issues related to youth, on the sidelines of his attendance at the meetings of the (high-level) Youth Support Conference held in the Jordanian capital, "Amman", during the period from (23-24) May.

 

During the meeting, Al-Bakri reviewed in front of the UN official, "the government's work and obligations in supporting and empowering Yemeni youth and developing their capabilities in the fields of (education, entrepreneurship, and youth leadership projects), and bringing them to a better reality."

 

He stressed the government's support for the youth sector strategic plan and all projects related to them, and the implementation of programs in accordance with the agreement signed between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA in the capital, Aden, and youth training centers in all governorates of the Republic of Yemen.
 

His Excellency the Minister indicated, "The Ministry sponsors all projects related to young people, enabling them to work and creating job opportunities for them, as they are the active force in society."

For her part, she thanked Bouzar, "the efforts of the Yemeni Ministry of Youth and Sports in promoting youth work, and its keenness to attend the activities of the Youth Support Conference, which is held under the auspices of the United Nations Development Program."

 

She affirmed the (UNFPA) support for youth projects and investment in Yemen in the amount of 120 million dollars, as part of its commitments to train and rehabilitate young people and provide them with job opportunities, despite the war crisis in Ukraine, specifically in rural areas

 

Bouzar stressed, "the importance of activating the joint work between the ministry and the organization, supporting young people in the fields of education and entrepreneurship, creating appropriate conditions for them, highlighting their abilities and developing their leadership skills in a way that brings them and their country benefit and benefit."


 

The meeting was attended by the Director General of the General Administration of Youth Hostels, Yasser Hassan Al-Ahdal.
